A breakdown of what Julius Dixon brings to Morehead State

Morehead State landed their second commitment in the 2019 class by landing 6'7 EAB forward Julius Dixon. Our HoopSeen staff has made no secret about the value we've seen in this high upside forward since the start of the travel season.

During Dixons first year of travel ball, he made a name for himself scoring offers from several Division 1 programs. Schools from the OVC, ASUN, and Big South all extended offers and based on his play in our Bama Jam, Atlanta Jam, and Best of the South it wasn't hard to see why. Anyone that evaluated him for the long haul could speak to his growth in a short time frame which speaks to his work ethic behind closed doors. A boost in confidence and experience was also shown as Dixon would display a more developed offensive package as time went on. In the post, he was serviceable and should only get better as his nimble feet will allow him to add combinations. From behind the arc is where Dixon could really separate himself from other OVC forwards as a potential knockdown shooter. His touch and mechanics point towards potentially being a forty percent shooter going into the later years of his career.

Dixon at times would show some of the inexperience he has from not playing high-level grassroots basketball but those mistakes can be ironed out. Some bad positioning or rushing on offense are all things that were seen in glimpses but Dixon's upside far outweighed any temporary lapses in his thought process. From a physical standpoint, Dixon is already ahead of the curve given his long solid frame. Some added lower body strength can only add to his low post ability. There's a lot for the Eagle faithful to like in this pick up as Dixon could turn into an All-OVC given his current makeup and skill set. This commitment gives Morehead state their second along with  Upward Stars Upstate guard Ta'Lon Cooper.
