Jaelyn Withers recruitment update

After shining at this HoopSeen Tip-off, past years our staff knew that many great things were on the horizon for the 6-foot-7 forward. Since then Jaelyn Withers has continued to have an upward tick in his recruitment.

"Arizona offered me yesterday. The latest ones I have are Texas, Pittsburg, and Texas A&M. The visit to Louisville went great. They showed a lot of hospitality. I like the school a lot. But I don't think I'm going to base my decision off of my unofficial visits. I want to go somewhere with coaches that will play me at my right position with is a 3. How much of an impact would I make as a freshman is also important to me. I would say that I would start trimming down my school list around October. I want to make my decision if not before the season then as soon as it starts”

Regardless of the recent offers, Withers is all too familiar with the recruiting process. Withers spoke about the dynamic between himself and a couple of the programs that are involved.

“I would have to say that Ive only been to a couple of campuses and met a few head coaches. I face time Shaka every now and then. As far as coach Mack he was a pretty swell dude. There wasn’t much to dislike about him. As far as coach Barnell at Clemson I haven’t talked to him lately. Him and the coaching staff are pretty cool.”

During our Tip-off, it was easy to see why so many coaches have taken the time to build a relationship with the Team Loaded NC forward. What we witnessed was a player with the ability to affect the game on both sides of the ball. It was common place to see Withers block a shot, grab a rebound, and take it coast to coast leaving many defenders to shake their heads behind him. Withers took the time to reflect on the days in which he searched for his first offer.

"My dad, aunt, uncle, and high school coach are the main people. My dad plays professional ball overseas but he just got back from Argentina. He told me all the time to be patient. I used to be eager about getting an offer and once I got my first one they started rolling in. As far as my aunt and uncle go they mainly say go to a school that will develop you so when the time comes to go to the league you will be ready."
