Tyler Herro ready to be a Wisconsin Badger
In what became a battle of the in-state programs for Tyler Herro, the Wisconsin Badgers won on out Monday. The Big 10 squad grabbed the commitment from the 6-foot-4 guard, an immediate shot making presence from the 2018 class.
Running with the Wisconsin Playground Warriors travel program, the same group that graduated the likes of Brevin Pritzl and Bronson Koenig to the Badgers basketball program, Herro is a giant score early on. A member of the 2018 class, the Whitnall High star has laid his hat on his scoring abilities from 20-feet and in and someone that can be used in a variety of ways, whether it is at the point guard spot, or as a score first off of the ball.
Following a giant growth spurt last year, Herro has incorporated his early age ball skills and handles into his premier shooting abilities that makes him a difficult stop. While he isn't an elite athlete or the strongest of prospects just yet, the Wisconsin native does comprehend how to play the game. He can be used on the ball as a jumbo playmaker, placed off of it as a dynamic three-level scorer of the ball, and has also become alot more engaged on the defensive end and on the glass.
The first offer that Greg Gard dished out to a prospect after having the interim tag removed last winter, Herro repaid the favor to the new head boss in Madison. "Coach Gard and the coaching staff made me a priority ever since Gardo got the job. I have beyond a good feeling that they believe in me as much as I believe in them," Herro stated. "The support across the state that I already have is tremendous. Deciding early was never really on my mind but I always told myself whenever I felt like it was home, I'd commit and pull the trigger."
Now the first member of the 2018 class for Wisconsin, Badger fans have reason to be excited with the now top-50 guard that will play out his college days at UW.
