2015 Lighthouse Classic Preview

Corinth, Mississippi isn’t the biggest town around, but this weekend, some of the top players and teams in the South will converge at Corinth High School for the third-annual Lighthouse Classic. This event is quickly becoming one of the top Thanksgiving tournaments in the Southeast, and this year the Lighthouse Foundation has out-done themselves.

The event runs Friday and Saturday, pitting teams from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee against each other.

Callaway (MS), J.O. Johnson (AL), Madison Academy (AL), Hamilton Heights (TN), Southwest Christian (AR), and Sunrise Christian (KS) are among the top teams in attendance.

In the past, the Lighthouse Classic has featured all showcase-style games. However, this year, we will see a Lighthouse Challenge Final Four. Hamilton Heights (TN) and Southwest Christian (AR) will matchup, as will Sunrise Christian (KS) and Wesley Christian (KY). The winner of both games will play each other in the championship game Saturday afternoon.

Nevertheless, the showcase games won’t disappoint either. Starkville-J.O. Johnson will give a great matchup of Mississippi State signee Tyson Carter and elite 2017 wing John Petty. Samford signee Justin Hopkins is also a feature player for Johnson.

Columbus (MS) will welcome two out-of-state teams and play Friday and Saturday. Columbus, led by 2018 forward Robert Woodard, will take on Michigan State signee Joshua Langford and Madison Academy on Friday, followed by UConn signee Alterique Gilbert and Miller Grove in the feature game Saturday night.

Here’s everything to watch for this weekend from the Lighthouse…
