Nick Harris ends his recruitment
St. Pius X center Nick Harris took two official visit, gathered enough information on the programs and took the time to weigh out his options between Miami of Ohio and College of Charleston. On Wednesday night, the 6-foot-10 senior decided it was time to end his recruitment.
Harris verbally committed to the College of Charleston after looking through the pros and cons of both programs.
"I just felt right," Harris said on Wednesday night. "That's where I wanted to go. I came back and did my pros and cons between them. Charleston was my favorite by far. (The pros were) the coaching staff, facilities, coach Doug Wojick will be great for developing me, the campus, the dorms, everything."
The Cougars were the first school to visit with Harris for an in-home conversation. That meant a lot to the big man and played a role in the relationship he built with Wojick.
"I like how up front and honest he is with me. He always keeps it real. I felt really comfortable with him," Harris said. "I talked to a lot of the players and assistant coaches. They made me feel real comfortable about going there."
Harris, the No. 18 ranked player in the class of 2014 in Georgia, is primed for a big season at St. Pius this season. He knows his senior year is the time to prepare for his college career. When asked how he uses this season to help build his college mindset, Harris had a simple answer.
"Demand the ball. When I get it, dominate," Harris said. "(I have to) get stronger in the weight room. I know Coach Wojick will be very detailed when I get there so I can't stop working."
