HoopSeen/Be The Beast Always Live Showcase Story Starters, Part I

SUWANEE, GA - This past weekend we brought together some of the top talent around the Southeast for the HoopSeen/Be The Beast Always Live Showcase and, man, let me tell you, it was loaded with college prospects. Here we take a look at some of the top break out players that we saw over the weekend.

It was a coming out party of sorts for the point guard out of The Burlington School (NC). The 5-foot-10 lead guard showed that he is a legitimate college prospect with his performance against Team Huncho, scoring 15 points in the dogfight. With his sturdy frame, Thomas was able to get into the lane and make things happen for the Sim Frazier coached Team Curry squad. He went 6-8 from the field and a perfect 3-3 from the three point line while dishing out 6 assists in the win. He holds offers from Stetson and Winthrop along with a handful of Division II offers. - Justin Byerly

Court 1 brought some afternoon fireworks as Jaylen Pegues squared off against the talented back court of Game Elite Big 5. Fresh off of a Furman offer, Pegues seemed determined to use the weekend as a chance to secure more options. A tight handle along with the ability to shift through multiple gears was what kept defenders at bay. His craftiness made scoring from different areas appear to be routine. Kudos to Furman and Belmont for getting in on Pegues before his offer sheet grows any longer. If this weekend's play is any indication then they will not be the only two. - Tai Young

One word that immediately came to mind after watching Edwards was “Dog”! This kid is a straight up dog on the floor. He is lightning quick and will get in your face with a swiftness. Edwards certainly had a breakout weekend making his presence known. In the first game against AC Georgia, he was scoring from all over the floor. He knocked down multiple threes and made some acrobatic finishes in the lane finishing with 18 points and four rebounds. I would say he was the X-factor in the win over a tough AC Georgia team. Each time AC Georgia would go on a run, Edwards provided a bucket or a defensive stop. He proceeded to follow up with a 26-point performance in a win over Game Elite 3ssb to conclude the evening. Although he is a small guard, Edwards plays down hill and has the tenacity to go at any player placed in front of him. I fully expect to see this kid play at the next level. He will be a steal for whatever program lands him. Look for him to have a breakout senior season for Parkview High School. - Brianna Patton
