Alabama Fall Preview: Top Performers, Part II

After the Alabama Fall Preview, we polled our coaches and support staff on the top 10 players they saw in camp. With over 30 players nominated, we were able to narrow it down to 13 top performers.

With that being said, these players were brought up the most when talking to our coaching staff. This is Part II of our top performers from the Alabama Fall Preview. Part I can be found here

Logan Dye, 2018 C, Haleyville: There wasn’t a more versatile true post player than Logan Dye on display Saturday. The 6-foot-8 big man is extremely gifted with his back to the basket, as he can score with a variety of different moves and counters. However, what separates him from others at his position is his shooting ability. Dye is more than capable of hitting shots from 15-feet and out to the three-point line, and many other bigs had problems guarding him all over the floor. With an offer from Samford and a handful of interest from SEC programs, he is a guy that could make another big jump during the high school season. - Garrett Tucker

Jared Sherfield, 2018 CG, Paul Bryant: Sherfield backed up his ranking as one of the top guards in the state on Saturday at the Alabama Fall Preview. At 6-foot-4, Sherfield has the ability to play both guard spots effectively. He has good athleticism and is a dangerous shooter from behind the arc. However, he also has a high IQ and is a gifted passer, especially in transition. His recruitment is just beginning, but Sherfield is going to be an intriguing option for low and mid-major programs in 2018 with his size, versatility, and shooting ability. - Garrett Tucker

Chris Rollins, 2017 PF, Hale County: To me, there wasn’t a guy that helped himself more than Chris Rollins (pictured). From start to finish, Rollins put his foot on the pedal and never let up. An undersized 4 man at 6-foot-6, the Hale County product is a fierce competitor and competes with the best of them. Rollins showcased his “dog” attitude and made his impact from the beginning with his motor. While his shooting is improving, he showed he can hit shots from all 3 levels. He will have to be more consistent the further away from the basket he goes, though. Overall, Rollins proved he is a viable option for D2, NAIA, and JUCO programs. - Garrett Tucker

Charlie Champagne, 2019 SG, Florence: Another fierce competitor, Champagne played as hard as anyone at camp Saturday. The sophomore made plays on both ends of the floor, whether it was converting mid-range pull-ups, leading and directing teammates, or taking charges on the defensive end of the floor. Champagne played with a high basketball IQ and made the correct play each time down the floor. Combine his IQ with his motor and competitive nature and Champagne was one of each camper’s favorite player to play with. Champagne has grown a few inches in the past few months and improved his athleticism, allowing him to take his game to the next level. - Garrett Tucker

Tyler Stallworth, 2018 SG, Monroe County: There weren’t many guys that passed the look test better than Stallworth. A strong, chiseled wing man at 6-foot-4, the junior was best when attacking the rim. He is extremely explosive and has the ability to make plays and go off for 10-12 points in a row. Stallworth’s athleticism and slashing ability are the best parts of his game right now, but he did hit some perimeter shots to keep the defense honest. He is very creative with the ball in his hands, leading to several eye-popping plays and crowd-pleasers. Stallworth is a guy to watch out for this year as the high school season prepares to get underway. - Garrett Tucker

Shy Cunningham, 2017 SG, Midfield: The recent buzz in the state has centered around Cunningham, a talented guard from Midfield. With some big games in a couple of respective fall leagues in Birmingham, the Fall Preview was our first time to see the senior play, and he delivered, just as the chatter had stated. A tough and strong 6-foot-3 guard, Cunningham has no problem putting the ball in the basket. His strength and toughness make him hard to handle going to the basket, but he also possesses a reliable mid-range jumper, too. Cunningham came across impressive and is a guy that will probably find himself in our top 35 state rankings when we update them in the coming months. - Garrett Tucker

Diante Wood, 2018 SF, Sacred Heart: The first thing that was noticeable about Wood’s game at The Fall Preview was his physicality. He used his size and strength to bully around opposing guards to make his way into the paint, where he is a high level finisher around the rim. He has elite level physical tools to go with a rapidly developing set of skills, and his understanding of the game is also coming along fast. It’s not hard to see why he’s so highly sought after by schools all around the Southeast. - Carter Wilson
