Previewing the Atlanta Jam

The HoopSeen Atlanta Jam is fully loaded with some of the top teams throughout the southeast as the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee are well represented. A few others from outside of the area will be hitting the floor at the Suwanee Sports Academy beginning on Friday evening. One thing is for sure, if you want to find some guys and watch some quality basketball, SSA is the place to be throughout the course of the weekend.

This being the first evaluation period for the college coaches to go out and see some of their top recruits and also find a few new ones along the way, the HoopSeen Atlanta Jam is the perfect landing spot to jumpstart ones recruitment to the next level. There are several unsigned seniors suiting up for their respective teams this weekend and there are many others that are just beginning their stories.

The talent that is on tap is no laughing matter. The event’s field boasts such programs like Boo Williams WAWG, Charlotte Aces, Charlotte Nets,  CP25 Southeast Elite 2017 FBC, Da House, Douglas Brothers Elite, Georgia Stars, Jacksonville Magic, River City Reign, Taylored Athletes, and Team Speights, along with a throng of others that will be in pursuit of a championship trophy on Sunday evening. Expect for a slew of college coaches to be in attendance from various levels to see each of these teams.

The depth of teams attending is no laughing matter, nor are some of the top prospects that will be lacing up their shoes in Suwanee this weekend.

  • Phil Cirillo SG AC GEORGIA 17U – A big time shot maker of the basketball with good size on the perimeter, Cirillo began his story at SSA and will only add onto it further; several divison-1 programs on the east coast are showing interest in the sharp-shooting guard with grades.
  • Evan Cole PF Atlanta All-Stars 17U – Cole was the breakout of The Elite Preview a few weeks back and this weekend in front of the college coaches, the high academic big man should see his stock increase greatly. He boasts great size in the post, a solid motor, and toughness within the interior.
  • Will Vedder PF Boo Williams WAWG 17U – Vedder comes to Suwanee as a native of the DMV as the 6-foot-8 big man is a solid rebounder of the ball who sets the tone within the painted area as he holds offers from Towson and Rhode Island.
  • James Lewis PF Charlotte ACES Gold 17U – Lewis is one of the better unsigned seniors suiting up this weekend as the mobile big man is a solid rim protector at the basket and can score facing the rim out to 15-feet.
  • AJ Ford PF CP25 Southeast Elite/FBC 17U – The buzz is beginning to escape out of the Sunshine State about AJ Ford. The younger brother of Northeastern star Quincy Ford, the division-1 platform hasn’t jumped on board with him yet but that could all change this weekend.
  • Kane Williams SF Georgia Stunners 17U – The definition of a tough and gritty wing who can play make in the backcourt in creating for others on the drive to the basket, Williams has the stage to really show out this weekend in Suwanee.
  • Scottie Bryant PG Jacksonville Magic 17U – Want a tough, fast point guard that can create for others on the drive to the basket but also score it in his own right? Bryant is your guy. Clemson offered back in the winter; look for others to follow suit.
  • Gabe Merete SF/PF Jacksonville Magic 17U – A solid athlete with good length in the frontcourt, there is a lot of value in Merete as he can guard different spots on the floor and has good upside at the next level.
  • Zach Jacobs PF River City Reign 17U – Quickly becoming a priority recruit for some of the better mid-major programs throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Zach Jacobs is a quality, face-up 4-man that can stretch out the defense but also battle it out inside.
  • Pinky Wiley PG River City Reign 17U – Quick, tough, unrelenting…that is the name of the game for Pinky Wiley. The 6-foot guard doesn’t back down from a soul and what he gives up in height, the Virginia native more than makes up for with his sheer grit and abilities on the drive to the basket.
  • John Salley C River City Reign 17U – While he is still some time away from being fully developed physically, Salley is a solid rim protector and someone that has gained confidence with more experience on the playing floor.
  • Giovanni Fraser PF Taylored Athletes 17U – An available senior who brings quality length and a motor to the court, there will be a lot of eyes placed on the Taylored Athletes gang, primarily because of the 6-foot-8 big man.
  • Darius Allen SF Taylored Athletes 17U – The best athlete in the event and also an unsigned senior at this time, Allen can throw down dunks that are Sports Center Top 10 worthy. A litany of mid and high-major schools have shown interest and this weekend could be the perfect scenario for Allen’s stock to fully explode.
  • Leandro Allende SF Taylored Athletes 17U – Running with Darius Allen on the high school and travel scene, Allende is more of the skilled type who can play various spots in the backcourt. There aren’t a lot of guys around with the size and ball skills of Allende that remain available within the 2016 class.
  • Morgan McKay PF Tennessee Bobcats 17U – McKay is a skilled, face-up forward type who can score the ball from 15-feet and in. While his body isn’t there just yet, he brings good upside and potential to the frontcourt of the floor.
  • Trent Frazier PG Wellington Wolves 17U – Frazier is a competitor, there is no other way to say it. He can really score the ball from every level on the floor and while he isn’t the biggest of guys around, Frazier sports major heart and is set on becoming a high-major priority this summer.
  • Dante Treacy PG CP25 Southeast Elite 16U – A super quick little guard who loves to push the pace of the game, Treacy sports great awareness in the backcourt as a distributor and is another one out of the Sunshine State that could really see his stock improve this weekend.
  • CJ Walker SF/PF CP25 Southeast Elite 16U – Boasting some of the best upside out of anyone throughout the course of the weekend, Walker is a guy that enjoys playing above the basket on the dunk and shot block attempt. Give him time where Walker is due to become a high-major recruit in the coming years.
  • Robert Woodard SF Da House 16U – A member of the USA Basketball program, there aren’t many around with the polished skillset and brute strength within the 2018 class than Robert Woodard. Many from the SEC have already made the Mississippi native a priority where, after this weekend, the 6-foot-6 forward could see his name go national.
  • Mohammed Abdulsalam C Georgia Stars 16U – A space eating big man with good hands and touch in the paint, they sure don’t make them the size of Abdulsalam that often. While he will never be described as a major athlete, the 6-foot-8 center will produce for you and control the activity within the interior.
  • Alex Petrie PG River City Reign 16U – Recently reclassing into the 2018 class, there is a lot to like about Petrie. He plays well beyond his years on the hardwood as he can create for others and also score it in his own right. With a developing physique and a major feel for the game, Petrie is someone that will walk away with a few more offers after this weekend.
