#BOTS Profile: Isaiah Otyaluk, NGNG

ATLANTA, GA - Two years ago, Isaiah Otyaluk was about to see things change in his young basketball career. Those around him saw him. But there were times when he didn’t.

Fast forward to the first day of the NCAA Live Period for travel teams during this busy July month and college coaches are here to see the 6-foot-6 all gas, no brakes forward from No Guts No Glory travel team out of North Carolina.

He laughed after his team’s opening game win over D13 out of Tennessee about the young man he was not that long ago.

“I let the pressure get to me sometimes, too. But over time, I kept getting in those moments and I got better,” Otyaluk said. “Honestly, it was just the mental part of it and I changed that.”

That confidence has founded an outstanding showing on the HoopSeen platform this season. He’s been a constant on our top performers lists and his profile seems to grow at a rapid clip.

He credits the confidence he’s playing with now.

“It has helped me level up in terms of how I’m playing, my energy,” Otyaluk said. "Whenever I wasn’t confident, I wouldn’t be thinking. (The confidence) has brought me a long way.”

He’s not wrong.

NC State, UNC Greensboro, Maine, Appalachian State, Louisiana Tech, UMass Lowell, Mercer and Liberty.

NC State was on hand for the first game of the action here in downtown Atlanta on July 6. Otyaluk said he sees where he can help a college right away.

“Rebounding, passing, my shooting ability, my length and mostly out of all of that, my defense and my passing,” Otyaluk said. “They like the energy. They like my length. They like that I can shoot it. I can block shots. They say I need to get stronger, which I’ve been working on.”

He took an unofficial visit to NC State last fall and taking more visits is something coming he wants to do after the travel season is over.

“I want to see my offers and my options,” Otyaluk said. “I could possibly make a decision based on what I have. I’ll take all my visits and not block anyone out.”
