Pitt pulls in Terrell Brown
One of the most improved big men from the east coast, Terrell Brown has rapidly progressed his skillset and seen his production rise with it. Programs jumped on board quickly this summer with the BABC star but on Monday, the 6-foot-10 center ended his college recruitment in favor of the Pitt men’s basketball program.
A relatively well-known name since entering the high school ranks, Brown has considerably added on the proper bulk and muscle in the past few months which has aided in the toughness category. Planning on prepping a year this fall at the Tilton School, the alma mater of Georges Niang and Nerlens Noel, Brown is a fantastic addition to the ACC program.
Running on the Nike circuit this past summer, Brown displayed a vast skillset and efficiency in scoring around the basket within traffic, yet also stepping out and extending the defense with the perimeter jumper. Converting on over 53-percent of his field goal tries while making over half of his 25 3-pointers attempted, expect for Brown to be used similar to how Vanderbilt big man Luke Kornet was used by former Commodore coach and now Panther head man Kevin Stallings.
Capable of making the outside jumper but also protecting his basket where the Rhode Island native averaged two swats per game on the EYBL circuit, there is upside and also a few unique from Brown. Beating out Purdue for the services of the versatile and skilled senior frontcourt piece, it looks as if the BABC product should fit in seamlessly within the confines of Kevin Stallings’ system in Oakland.
The second commitment in the 2017 class for the new staff at Pitt, Brown joins defensive stalwart and playmaking guard Aaron Thompson, creating a solid duo early on for the ACC program. Expect for the Panthers to remain in the hunt for a few more pieces as they have placed their eyes on the likes of Christian David, Kimani Lawrence, Victor Uyaelunmo, and Marcus Carr in finishing out their respective senior class.
