2023 Fall Preview: Team 8 Evaluations

SUWANEE, Ga.—We’re closing out our coverage of the 2023 HoopSeen Fall Preview with the evaluations for the players that made up team eight.

Cutshaw made hustle plays in crunch time. Down the stretch of games, he made key defensive plays with timely blocks and deflections.

Bogany had an eye-opening day. He proved to be a good three point shooter both in catch-and-shoot situations or off the dribble. He’s a long guard who did a decent amount of damage from mid-range.

Quamond Isaiah Dennis

One of the top performers from last year’s fall preview is back. He can absolutely get buckets in an open environment like a camp. Dennis has been electric in scoring the ball from all levels two years in a row at the Fall Preview. Look out for a breakout senior season for him at Baldwin.

Fortune Hicks is a player that we highlighted at last year’s NextGen preview camp. He showed a lot of potential, so it was nice to see him go up against older competition. He’s lanky on the perimeter, and he can play either guard spot. Hicks is a good playmaker who has a chance to keep developing into a player we talk about more in the future.

Whitfield Hyde

Hyde was one of the more intriguing prospects we saw. He’s a lanky, skilled forward with a good feel for the game. He’s confident and doesn’t back down from a challenge. Hyde impacted the game across the board. He showed that he can put the ball on the floor and make plays from the wing.

Williams is a solid PG with the ability to get into the paint with relative ease. He makes good passing decisions and can score when needed. He’s an underclassman, so his best days are ahead of him.

Trey Fields

Fields stood out based on effort, especially on defense. He was active in passing lanes and kept his hands working in order to disrupt. For a young guard to have emphasized defense as much as he did was impressive.

Emery McCurdy

As he got into the rhythm of the day, McCurdy emerged as a solid playmaking option for his team. McCurdy is a good ball-handler and can lead a team well. He plays with craft and got to the rim consistently. He scored and looked to get others involved evenly.

Ali Stewart

Newer to the game, Stewart is raw and still figuring it out. He got better as the day went on and was eager to learn and be involved in every play. We’d like to see him again with more reps under his belt to track his progress.
